About us - YOSOCA YYC

YOSOCA is Calgary’s first YOSAKOI dance team, founded in 2017 with the vision of sharing Japanese festival culture through dance.

We bring together people of all backgrounds to experience the energy, teamwork, and excitement of YOSAKOI. From beginners to experienced dancers, our team is built on inclusivity, passion, and community.

Through performances, workshops, and cultural events, we aim to connect people and create meaningful experiences both on and off the stage.

Performances

We perform at major events such as the Calgary Stampede Parade, cultural festivals, and community events across Alberta.

Workshops

We offer workshops to introduce YOSAKOI to new audiences, making it accessible and fun for everyone.

Community

We build a welcoming space where people can connect, grow, and celebrate together through dance.v

We strive to grow YOSAKOI as a cultural movement in Canada, connecting people locally and internationally through dance and events such as KOKUYOSA.

Our mission is to share the spirit of YOSAKOI—energy, teamwork, and celebration—while building a strong and inclusive community in Calgary and across Canada.

A song created in 2022, inspired by the teammates who were separated during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This piece reflects the emotions of distance, resilience, and the hope of coming together again through dance and music. Canade expresses the bonds that remain strong even when we are apart, and celebrates the moment we reunite as one.
